The 2007 Coco Cup, named after it's primary organizer, Tracy Smith (class nickname Coco), was the first modern-rules I-14 regatta on the east coast. This was a proof-of-concept event to demonstrate that Newport is a great place for an I-14 regatta. Many thanks to the Canadians who made their way down for the event. We had five local boats (three modern & two pennies), and about three or four Canadian modern rules boats (I can't remember ;-).

The Coco cup was very low key, with no on-land activity, and only two power boats for RC - nothing but racing. But it set the stage for Newport as a venue, and made the 2008 North Americans possible.

Ben Jacobson was kind enough to put together and host a photo gallery from the event.
